Humanitarian aid is help for people in the world’s most desperate situations. Many agencies work to address humanitarian crises for those affected by war, natural disasters, and other events requiring relief efforts at home and around the world.


Action Against Hunger

Action Against Hunger has helped feed the hungry in northern New Jersey since 1991. Over the years, the initiative has grown, and the food drive now encompasses four counties in New Jersey.

Canadian Red Cross

The Canadian Red Cross, which is an affiliate of the International Red Cross, operates a wide variety of humanitarian services in Canada and Internationally. These include disaster relief, health care, education, and mental health support. You can help support their cause by becoming a donor or by becoming a volunteer with them or any of their international affiliates.



Direct Relief

Direct Relief works to equip health professionals in resource-poor communities to meet the challenges of diagnosing and caring for people in need. While it is based on the United States, their aid extends to the global community. When disasters strike, Direct Relief responds fast, effectively, and efficiently to get medical resources where they need to be to save lives.



Doctors without Borders

DWB is an organization that has been working with crisis-affected communities to provide emergency medical aid to people in need since 1971. They send doctors and nurses to where they are needed the most.



Equity Now

True North Aid is dedicated to serving and supporting northern and remote Indigenous communities in Canada through practical humanitarian support. With more than 60% of Indigenous children living below the poverty line, there is much work to be done. The issue facing Indigenous communities in Canada are complex. True North Aid believes that self-governance and self-determination is the key to closing the poverty gap.



Go Give One

Go Give One is a COVID-19 fundraising campaign with no borders. You can make a small donation of $5, which will help fund vaccines for lower-income countries, helping protect those who need vaccines most.



Islamic Relief Canada

Islamic Relief Canada is a nonprofit organization that works with communities to become more resilient to calamities. Through islamic values, expertise and global outreach, they wish to inspire and help people respond quickly to disasters and fight poverty. Nova Ukraine

Nova Ukraine is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine and raising awareness about Ukraine around the world. Through donations, they fund a variety of efforts to help the people of Ukraine and to strengthen Ukraine's democratic society.



People In Need

People in Need is a non-government, non-profit organization that provides immediate humanitarian aid and helps people get back on their feet. They work in more than 30 countries, support child education, help the poorest and most vulnerable, and support human rights activists.



Project Power Global

PPG is a registered non-profit organization based in Canada. They are a youth-led organization with a mission to connect students from different parts of the world to learn from each other, to foster a friendship and support one another. PPG works to provide quality access to education in developing parts of the world, as well as inspire others to start taking action on issues they care about.



State Funding for Social Movements

This is a digital archive and database examining the history of state funding in Canada and, the relationship between state funding and social movements. This resources is affiliated with the Government of Canada. The resource includes additional readings lists and citations. The focus is to show the relations and patterns amongst state funding and social movements.



Sunflower of Peace Foundation

Sunflower of Peace Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to helping Ukrainians affected by the Russian military invasion. Their fundraiser provides medical and humanitarian aid that to be used by the paramedics and doctors in the areas that are affected by the violence in Ukraine.



The Alberta Council for Global Cooperation

ACG works toward ending poverty and achieving a peaceful and healthy world, with dignity and full participation for all.



The Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

The Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal is supporting the work of GlobalMedic, who are assisting Ukrainians displaced to neighbouring countries and internally in Ukraine. In Ukraine, Romania and Moldova GlobalMedic is distributing food, hygiene products and other aid. You can help by donating and applying for a career with the CUF.



Translators without Borders

TWB translates more than ten million words per year for non-profit organizations by working with thousands of volunteer translators worldwide. Their work focuses on crisis response, development, capacity building, and advocacy.


UNICEF

UNICEF is the world's farthest-reaching humanitarian organization for children. Across 190 countries and territories, and in the world's toughest places, they work to help children survive, defend their rights, and keep them protected, healthy and educated. They work so that all children have proper care and protection, despite the difficult circumstances they may be living in.



World Central Kitchen

WCK is a non-profit dedicated to serving millions of Ukranian families, serving thousands of food kits everyday and reaching the cities that are under attack right now. They source and hire locally to jumpstart economic recovery that happens through food, and helps to create hope in their journey doing so.
