Children are among the most vulnerable in our population and lack the capacity or understanding to advocate for themselves. The resources here demonstrate the issues affecting children and how others can advocate on their behalf.

Ben Calf Robe Society

The BCR Society strives to protect and enhance sacredness of their children by providing Aboriginal children and their families with holistic education, supportive social services, and programs of high quality and cultural relevance.



Black Youth Helpline

Black Youth Helpline is a multicultural helpline for children, youth, families, school boards, and other youth serving organizations.



Calgary Youth Justice

Calgary Youth Justice helps young people find their way through challenging life circumstances and sometimes poor choices that can hold them back from reaching their full potential. They connect adult volunteers with young people who need support, in some cases because they have been in conflict with the law.



Canadian Council for Child and Youth Advocates

The CCYA is an alliance of legislatively mandated advocates for the rights of children and youth. The CCYA provides this list of contacts for it's council members from the nine provinces and two territories of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Québec, Saskatchewan, and Yukon.

New Brunswick Child & Youth Advocate

New Brunswick Child & Youth Advocate reports on the availability, effectiveness, responsiveness, and relevance of child and youth services in the community as well as monitor laws and policies.



Nisa Homes

This organization provides a safe haven and support services to women, children and families who are experiencing homelessness and/or domestic and family violence, poverty or seeking asylum.

Plan International Canada is a member of a global organization dedicated to advancing children’s rights and equality for girls. Plan International has been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years and is now active in more than 75 countries.

Public Guardian and Trustee of British Columbia

The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT)'s role to protect the interests those who lack legal capacity to protect their own interests. This could include children, adults who require assistance in decision-making, or the deceased.



Saskatchewan Advocate for Children & Youth

The Saskatchewan Advocate for Children and Youth leads a team of professionals to advocate for the rights, interests, and well-being of children and youth in Saskatchewan. This is done from investigations being conducted, public education to raise awareness, research and systemic advocacy.



SeaStar Child & Youth Advocacy Centre

SeaStar is a safe, welcoming place, where different agencies and services, such as law enforcement, child welfare, health care, mental health, and justice systems, work together to improve the way the community responds to concerns of child abuse.

The Trafficking and Exploitation Services System (TESS) is an organization that works to respond to the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Youth.



Umingmak Centre of Nunavut

As the first child advocacy centre in Nunavut, the main function is to address the needs of children & youth who have experienced abuse.



VOICES, Manitoba's Youth in Care Network

Voices helps to educate the public on issues facing youth in care in Manitoba by having outreach programs for youth who have recently come into care and providing them full support as well as with opportunities of networking.



Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS)

Based in Edmonton, Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS) provides immediate and low-barrier overnight and day shelter, temporary supportive housing, and individualized support for young people aged 15–24.



Youth Restorative Action Project

YRAP advocates for youth rights and strives to bring about positive outcomes for those affected by criminal activity.



Yukon Child and Youth Advocate Office

The Advocate Office is an independent office of the Yukon Legislative Assembly that represents the rights, views and preferences of children and youth who are eligible, or currently receiving government services and programs.

Every Two Hours: children exposed to intimate partner violence in Manitoba (Video)

Video: A new special report released by the Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth found that a child is exposed to a police-reported of intimate partner violence every two hours. This exposure can be very traumatic for children, and lead to difficulties in their future. This video provides recommendations to improve the effectiveness and responsiveness of services for children, youth, and families in Manitoba.
